Admission to Macromolecular Science and Engineering

Application requirements:

The Macromolecular Science and Engineering Program requires either a B.S. or B.A. in science or engineering with at least a 3.3 grade point average (on a 4 point scale). Students with bachelor's degrees in chemical or materials engineering, chemistry, or physics will find it possible to continue easily with their major field within the Program; others may have to make up deficiencies early in their studies.

 

International Students:

Unless you have received a degree from an American college or university, international students must demonstrate English proficiency. Applicants are required to provide an official score report from a Rackham School approved English test. The minimum scores for English exams may be found on the Rackham School website under Admissions Requirements. The general admission requirements for the Rackham School of Graduate Studies must also be met. See the Admissions and Minimum Rackham Requirements pages for more information.

 

GRE Scores:

The GRE general exam is required of all applicants to the Ph. D. program, including University of Michigan undergraduates applying to the program. The minimum requirement is a combined Verbal and Quantitative score 1200 and an Analytical Writing score of 3.5

GRE subject recommended.

Recommendation Letters:

Three letters of recommendation are required by our admissions committee. If you are presently attending, or have in the past attended an American college or university, at least two letters of recommendation should be from persons familiar with your work there. Program Deadlines:

For US and international applicants, the deadline for Fall applications is December 15th. The deadline for Winter applications is October 1st for U.S. applicants, and September 1st for international applicants.
